Synopsis
Morris and Oswald, shot on Super 16mm color film, is the first narrative short from music video director and freelance animator Kelly Goeller. Set in Manhattan’s Central Park, the film follows two ragged hobos and their fruitless attempts to afford a snack from a nearby vendor cart.
An absurd comedy with existential themes, the film takes cues from
Waiting for Godot and
Alice and Wonderland to tell the unfortunate tale of our title characters. It combines a palette of vibrant, saturated color with hand-drawn animation sequences, reflecting the distorted sensibilities of the pair. Driven to a fierce hunger and armed with nothing but a runaway kid-on-a-leash, Morris and Oswald are faced with their biggest fear: journeying beyond the bounds of Central Park.
